How will these tests help?

To help understand why you have swelling in your neck, we will be running a group of tests. These tests can be broken into two groups

The first group of tests includes the Complete Blood Count (CBC), Thyroid Function Tests (TSH, T3, T4), Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), C-Reactive Protein (CRP), Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR), and Serum Protein Electrophoresis (SPEP). These tests will help us determine if there is an underlying infection or inflammation that is causing the neck swelling

The second group of tests includes the Kidney Function Tests (Creatinine, Blood Urea Nitrogen, Uric Acid), Coagulation Tests (PT, INR, PTT), Immunoglobulin Tests (IgG, IgA, IgM), and Autoimmune Tests (ANA, Rheumatoid Factor, Anti-dsDNA). These tests will help us determine if there is an autoimmune component to the neck swelling, such as an autoimmune disorder or other immunologic disorder

Overall, these tests will help us determine the cause of the neck swelling, such as an infection, inflammation, or autoimmune component.
